Valorization of faba bean (Vicia faba) by-products

چکیده
Abstract From harvesting to consumption of the faba bean ( Vicia ), different plant residues such as stems, leaves, pods, and seed husks remain by-products. The harvest constitute about 50% (w/w) whole aboveground biomass, while empty pods account for 11% 6% on average, respectively. Due environmental dietary benefits, global production beans is most likely increase in future. Concomitantly, amounts by-products will rise well. So far, mainly have been widely studied, whereas received less consideration. Therefore, aim this review was provide an overview composition illustrate their potential being used feedstock food, feed, or even non-food applications. This literature survey clearly reveals that all residual materials contain valuable compounds might be suitable a multitude material should thus not disposed but further valorized order exploit full biomass.
